Hello everyone!!!
I know it's been a while.....just really busy. We all were sick battling bad colds and now Jovany's going through a major growth spurt! He's stretching upwards, loosing his baby fat and teeth are coming in like crazy! This child continues to amaze us with his appetite.
He's getting into everything lately, so we've had to lay down the law a little bit around the Tovar house. He's such a curious little boy and he's fearless. I turned my head for one second the other day and he had climbed up on to the kitchen table.
I am glad to say that Jovany takes after his Mommy! Daddy tried to skip brushing teeth one night (Mommy was at Zumba class) and Jovany refused to go into his room. He waited by the sink in the bathroom pointing to his spiderman toothbrush. Sorry Daddy....only one cochino in the house!
Here are some pictures of Jovany with his buddy Gabriella at Gymboree for the first time. They had a good time climbing, playing and dancing. It was what I like to call "organized chaos!" There was a lot going on in that gym, but Jovany enjoyed it all especially the climbing and singing.
One new thing to report.....Jovany is now potty training and we've had a couple successes. It helps that "Tita" reads tons of books to get Jovy and Gabby to stay on their seats for a while. Although # 2 on the potty has not happened yet for Jovany , #1 has happened a few times (one time standing up and wetting the floor...oops). We owe it all to "Tita" as she makes potty time so exciting especially when they wave bye bye to the pee pee and ka ki going down the toilet.

Happy 2008!!
Happy New Year everyone! We hope you all had a wonderful holiday!
So much to update you on...Tia Erika, Tio Ram and Max spent their first "Florida Christmas" with us this year. They were amazed that you can celebrate the Christmas season in the patio with shorts LOL!!
The boys had a blast at the Aquarium, Zoo, parks and just running around the house. It was great to see them interacting and playing nicely. Max learned to eat his snacks quick or Jovany will eat them all! Jovany learned that sneakers can sometimes prevent you from sliding down the slide correctly (bump, bump). They both learned how special it is to have cousins and they really bonded over the 10 days. The house seemed so quiet when they left and the first morning, Jovany went looking for Max only to find an empty room :(
Jovany has made many developmental explosions lately. We are now experiencing teething as 4 teeth are coming in at the same time, making a grand total of 6 teeth in his mouth. Let's just say that he's a little grumpy and is BITING everything including Mami, Papi and Tata (Abuelita). Thank God he has spared his BFF Gabby from the biting. With that being said, our 15 month old has visited the "time-out" wall a few times for various reasons including banging the wine glasses to make a harmonious sound and slapping Mami in the face etc. This little guy has a very strong personality and likes to push his limits. His determination is no joke....on New Years Day, he decided to bungee jump (minus the bungee cord) from his crib because he didn't want to take a nap. He gave Mami and Papi a heart attack when we found him standing by the door. So, as hard as it was to realize that our little baby no longer needed a crib anymore, we bought him a toddler bed. Although it worries Mami that he can roam around his room at night, he seems to have adjusted well.
Jovany has also developed an obsession with his belly button. He walks around the house with his finger in his belly button (a lot like Al Bundy) and he's always lifting up Mami and Daddy's shirt to look for our belly buttons. Our little Montessori baby is doing amazing with simple puzzles and with some encouragement cleans up his toys before bedtime. He understands and follows simple commands and is such a helper around the house. He loves to dance and lately has been doing a Stevie Wonder sway thing with his head. Tata has recently introduced him to Play Dough. He loves the texture and sorts them on his tray. Another new discovery is drinking from a straw. He loves it! Until next time....

Jovany the Explorer!!!
Our little guy is so fascinated with the world he lives in. So many things are calling his attention lately.
From pulling off little berries from the bushes and holding on to them for dear life, to helping mommy put the clothes from the dryer to the basket. Let's not forget the DEMANDED morning walk at Abuelita's (on rainy days he waits by the front door upset). He loves to wave to the children at the bus stop and stops in aww to watch the wheels on any vehicle go round and round.
We are so intrigued with all his little discoveries. Jovy loves to observe and concentrates intensely when he plays (wonder where he gets those traits from???). He's realizing there's a cause and effect for everything and is sooooo testing his limits.
Last weekend, we went up to Jersey again. BRR!!!! It was great to see everyone and Jovany had a great time playing with his cousins. Lito was amazed on how quick Jovany discovered how to climb stairs being it was the first time he had every been around them before. Little dare devil!!!

Welcome to Toddlerhood!!!!
What an amazing first year it has been. To see our son born as such a helpless being and then to develop into such a busy boy.... it's just incredible to us !!!! He's such a warm boy who loves to cuddle in Mami or Papi's arms and he always has a smile on his face.
Jovany is at such a neat stage.....he's lost his "baby" tendencies and looks and acts like such a big boy. He's walking, throwing tantrums, babbling really loud in public places and let's not forget throwing toys or his sippy cup across the table in a restaurant( we're working on that one). He's welcomed us into his wonderful world of "toddler" experiences.
Jovany has now developed "Daddyitis". He's so attached to Jimmy and we can already tell he looks up to him....it's so cute!! He finally got some teeth in and they happen to be the two fang teeth, so he looks ridiculously like Dracula....very appropriate for Halloween. One of his teeth is chipped already from a fall he took on the coffee table (boys will be boys).
We celebrated Jovy's first birthday at Abuelita and Abuelito's house and despite the rain we had a great time. Lita, Lito, Max, Tio Ram, Tio Nicky, Tia Erika and Tia Twiggy all flew in from Jersey to celebrate the big day. The house was packed with family and friends and we felt so blessed to see how much love Jovy has. Of course he went to town with the amazing Thomas the Train smash cake my mom made and had icing in his nail beds for days!!!!
Life is very good!!!!
